Experience the passion and intensity of two Romantic masterworks as the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra presents Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, featuring MSO Violin Fellow Haeun Honney Kim. Meet Haeun Honney Kim
Korean/American violinist Haeun Honney Kim, raised in Alabama, is renowned for her captivating performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player across 15 countries. A member of the LGT Young Soloists since 2022, she leads the second violin section and performs in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and Konzerthaus Berlin. Recently, she soloed in Piazzolla’s Four Seasons at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, with a live-streamed performance. Beginning violin at age 4, inspired by her pianist mother, Honney gained acclaim through competitions such as the Blount Slawson National Young Artist Competition and the Leopold Auer International Violin Competition. She debuted with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra at eleven and has performed with several orchestras. Honney has participated in global festivals and studied under prominent mentors. She completed her Bachelor’s at the New England Conservatory and is pursuing a Master’s at Juilliard, where she also teaches pre-college students.
Honney plays on an 1895 Scarampella violin that has been graciously loaned to her by the Stretton Society in Germany.
